 Mandatory Documents:

Things to carry:

  • Trekking shoes: Carry trekking shoes good grip and ankle support. Do not carry sports shoes.
  • Three layers of warm clothes: Carry two or three-layer jackets, fleece jackets and a padded jacket.
  • Two/Three trek pants: Carry light cotton trek pants. Denim/jeans and shorts are not suitable for trekking.
  • Three t-shirts (collared/dry-fit): Full sleeved t-shirts that prevent sunburns on the neck and arms. Carry one or two dry-fit t-shirt
  • Thermals: Carry thermals (top and bottom).
  • Sunglasses: Sunglasses are mandatory. There will be a lot of snow on the trek and can cause snow blindness.
  • Cap: At high altitude, the sun is extra harsh so carry a cap to protect yourself.
  • Waterproof hand gloves: Carry waterproof gloves and avoid woollen gloves as they will get wet if you touch snow.
  • Socks (3-4 pairs) and a pair of woollen socks: Apart from two sports socks, you can take a pair of woollen socks for the night.
  • Headlamp/LED torch: Mandatory
  • Raincoat/Ponchos: At high altitudes, snowfall and rain are quite common and it’s mandatory to carry a poncho so that you don’t get wet. The trek will continue as planned even during rainfall. Your poncho should protect you rain. Carry a backpack cover for extra protection from rain for your belongings.
  • Daypack (20 litres): You will need this to carry water bottles, lunch box and personal medical kit in case you decide to offload your backpack.
  • Lunch box and water bottle: Every participant should have their personal lunch box and a good water bottle.

     

How to Reach Rumsu ?

By Bus/taxi: Take a bus headed towards Manali from Delhi/Chandigarh and get down at Patlikuahal stop(20 km before Manali) and take a taxi to Rumsu. Taxi charges are Rs 500-700 per vehicle (7 seater)

Itinerary

    Reporting at Rumsu base camp and Acclimatization walk.

    Get down at Patlikuhal(20 km after Kullu and 20 km before Manali). Transport options are readily available from Patlikuhal to Rumsu camp.<br /> All the participants should report at Rumsu base camp by 8 AM and will undergo the registration process. Freshening up and breakfast will happen at the base camp. Post breakfast we will go for an acclimatization walk.<br /> Lunch at 1 PM. Post lunch orientation. Orientation will cover all the general instructions that could be helpful for the trek like backpacking, marching technique and medical awareness. Post snacks we will have an ice-breaking session.<br /> Overnight stay at Rumsu base camp.

    Trek to Naya Tapru

    After breakfast, all the trekkers will start their trek to Naya Tapru (2,800 meters). The trek route goes through some dense forest, full of pine, fir, oak, chestnut trees. There is an ascend for the jungle and takes around 4 to 5 hours to reach to Naya Tapru. We will have our packed lunch at Ghan Kulhadi. Ghan kulhadi is a large plain green meadow amidst the dense forest. Overnight stay in tents at Naya Tapru camp.

    Trek to Chandrakhani Pass and descend to Chaklani. Overnight at Chaklani.

    After breakfast all the trekkers will start their trek to Chandrakhani Pass with their packed lunch. We will start the trek early by 6 AM. The trek route has a moderate ascend and takes around 4 hours to reach Chandrakhani Pass. The highest point of the pass is 3,660 meters. Just adjacent to the Chandrakhani Pass lies Dhana Kunnu Pass. The entire place is associated with the famous Jamdagini Rishi, one of the seven saptrishi. We will then start descend from Chandrakhani and will camp at Chaklani. The descend is easy and takes around 2 hours. Overnight stay in tents at Chaklani camp site. `{`Stay at Chaklani depends upon snow situation. If camping is not possible because of snow reason at Chaklani we will camp at Naya Tapru`}`

    Descend to Rumsu and Departure.

    After the breakfast all the participants will start their descend for Rumsu base camp. The descend route is the same as the ascend one and takes around 4 hours. Lunch at Sterling while descending.<br /> Certificate distribution will be held at 3PM. Departure at 4 PM from base camp for New Delhi.
